    US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with 400 other guests, for a fancy state dinner at the White House in Washington on Thursday.

    The high-profile guests who are likely to dine with Modi include Apple CEO Tim Cook, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam, among others.

    Keeping in mind Modi's vegetarian meal preference, the first lady has created an elaborate dinner menu for the guests.

    Mrs Biden has taken special care to plan the vegetarian state dinner for the 400 guests at the White House.

    According to reports, the dinner has been prepared with flavours from India and an American twist to honour PM Narendra Modi.

    The guests will dine at the Modi event in a pavilion set up on the South Lawn of the White House.

    During the media preview, Jill Biden shared a glimpse of elaborate planning made in the State Dining Room of the White House.

    It is a White House tradition to serve the guests with delicacies afrom abroad.

    In 2009, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's state dinner featured basmati rice, alongside White House-grown arugula and pumpkin pie tarts. This time, it's a slightly Indian-accented dinner menu.

    To make sure the dinner is vegetarian, Jill Biden gave special instructions to White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford.

    California-based chef Nancy Curtis, who specialises in plant-based meals, was also to help Comerford in the kitchen.

    The decor picked for the special ocassion is a mix of American and Indian culture. An imagery of the peacock (India's national bird) and the bald eagle (America's national bird) will be prominenetly siplayed as part of the decor.

    The tables will also have lotus blooms, India's national flower and a symbol of PM Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party. Excusite rose-gold crockery and cutlery will be used for the state dinner.

    After dinner, American violinist Joshua Bell, a South Asian a-cappella group founded by students at the University of Pennsylvania Penn Masala, and the U.S. Marine Band Chamber Orchestra will enthrall the guests.

    They will exit the south grounds by walking across a lawn illuminated by hundreds of glowing lanterns.
