Synopsis

Private consumption of porn isn’t a problem in itself, or even illegal. But posting non-consensual and child sexual abuse material, which has been on the rise, is a menace. Keeping it in check is proving to be a challenge for social media platforms.

A couple of months ago, Dailyhunt’s short-video platform, Josh, was testing a new feature, “Private Mode”. The content and news aggregation firm told ET Prime that the feature was an experiment and introduced to provide an additional layer of privacy to users. Alas, if things were that simple.
