Synopsis

Unlike its competitors, the Sajjan Jindal-led company doesn’t have a particular year to achieve net-zero emission. It, however, has a 2030 decarbonisation road map focusing on renewable energy, circularity, process efficiencies, and a sustainability-linked remuneration from the board to the managerial level. It is betting on technological breakthroughs to gradually reduce its carbon footprint.

In 1982, when Sajjan Jindal joined his father Om Prakash Jindal as a fresh mechanical engineering graduate from the Bangalore University, the company patriarch was, perhaps, already aware of his son's business acumen. Within a year or so, junior Jindal was asked to turn around operations at two facilities near Mumbai.
