    Asian Games 2023 India medal tally: Full list of Gold, Silver, Bronze medal winners

    Synopsis

    India has sent a 655-member contingent to participate in the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. The event, originally scheduled for 2022 but postponed due to COVID-19, started on September 23 and will continue until October 8. With a larger contingent this year, India is hopeful of surpassing its previous medal count of 70, including 16 gold, achieved at the Jakarta 2018 Games. Athletics has historically been India's strongest sport at the Asian Games.

    Asian Games 2023: Indian Shooters, Rowers shine; takes India's medals tally to double-digit mark
    India has so far won 53 medals at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This includes 13 gold, 21 silver and 19 bronze.

    Leading the medal tally are India's sharpshooters, who have clinched an impressive 22 medals. Their remarkable achievements include seven gold, nine silver, and six bronze medals across various events, showcasing the country's prowess in shooting sports.

    Avinash Sable became the first Indian man to win the gold medal in 3000m steeplechase at the Asian Games while shot-putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor defended his title with an amazing final throw to beat back the challenge from his Saudi Arabian rival on Sunday.

    On Saturday, India's Kartik Kumar and Gulveer Singh won silver and bronze respectively in the men's 10000m event. Earlier, India defeated Pakistan in the men's team squash final to win tenth gold at Asian Games 2023.

    Apart from shooting, rowing has emerged as another strong suit for India, bringing home two silver and three bronze medals. The rowing team's commendable efforts have added to India's medal count.

    India's gold medal victories have come in diverse sporting events. The 10m Air Pistol Team Men, 10m Air Rifle Team Men, 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team Men, 10m Air Pistol Women, 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women, 25m Pistol Team Women, Women's Cricket, Tennis Mixed Doubles and Equestrian Dressage Team events have all seen Indian athletes clinch the coveted gold medals.

    In addition to shooting and rowing, India has also excelled in sailing, equestrian, cricket, squash, tennis, wushu, and athletics, securing medals in these disciplines as well.

    India has sent a 655-contigent to the Asian Games this time hoping for a record medal haul. At the Jakarta 2018 Games, where a 570-strong Indian squad secured an impressive 70 medals, including 16 gold, 23 silver, and 31 bronze.
